I lead a life of words. My day job is freelance editing and writing, for newspapers (you remember those?) as well as for other publications and companies, including this one. My other passion is children’s literature, and I hope to see my picture book and middle grade manuscripts on a shelf someday. In books, my first loves are all things fantastical and supernatural, especially involving strong, independent female protagonists.
I am a nearly lifelong Jersey girl except for those three years in Florida, during which I never developed a tan but did develop a love for mangoes and cafe con leche. New Jersey, despite what you’ve heard, is a nice place to live. I live with my family and my intern, who helpfully claws my legs while I work.
I am a member of SCBWI and the Editorial Freelancers Association, and spent several years as a member of the 12x 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge, which I highly recommend. I participate in Tara Lazar’s Storystorm idea challenge, which I also highly recommend. I think libraries are wonderful places, and I think you should read newspapers. And I think people who love books are the best people.
